Code Blue Returns As National Campus Safety Awareness Month Sponsor

HOLLAND, MICHIGAN (August 31, 2020): Code Blue Corporation is proud to announce that it has returned as a sponsor for National Campus Safety Awareness Month (NCSAM).

Each September during NCSAM, Clery Center partners with colleges, universities and other organizations to provide professional development opportunities that address the backgrounds of certain campus safety areas and strategies for talking with campus community members.

“The safety of campus communities has always been at the core of Code Blue’s mission,” Code Blue Director of Distribution Katie Petre said. “Clery Center performs vital work raising awareness on campuses around the nation and we are happy to lend our support once again.”

NCSAM was unanimously approved by Congress in 2008 to encourage a public conversation on important topics in violence prevention at the nation’s colleges and universities. In 2019, more than 600 people from 489 colleges, universities and other organizations in 48 states, plus Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, Canada and the United Kingdom, were able to participate in NCSAM free webinar series and access additional resources.

Clery Center is a national non-profit organization focused on promoting college and university campus safety through education, awareness, policy, and prevention initiatives.

“This year’s NCSAM theme, ‘The Same, Yet Different’ is a reflection of higher education in 2020,” said Sarah Barrett, Director of Training and Education for Clery Center. “As institutions continue to be impacted by the challenges of this year, they are seeking ways do the same work in a different way. As a result, this year we will highlight the Clery Act as a guidepost, centering conversations around accountability, justice, and of course, safety.”
