Code Blue Help Point® Assists University of Florida Student

For more than 25 years, Code Blue’s industry-leading Help Points® have provided efficient access to first responders for millions of people around the world.

The sophisticated features of these emergency communication solutions were highlighted during a recent incident at the University of Florida. According to WJXT-TV, two students were walking on campus when they were approached by a suspect with a handgun. The students ran from the suspect and contacted authorities by activating an on-campus Emergency Blue Light Phone. Gainesville Police were able to establish a search perimeter and apprehend two suspects, who allegedly had attempted another armed robbery in the area.

“It’s a great measure that’s been put in place in case anyone ever feels threatened,” student Alex Higgins told WCJB-TV.

The University of Florida has dozens of Code Blue pedestal and wall-mounted Help Points located throughout its 2,000-acre campus that are designed to offer help at the touch of a button®, whether it’s providing assistance during an emergency incident, reporting a suspicious individual or simply asking for help with car trouble. No matter the situation, Code Blue provides contact with first responders to ensure the safety and security of individuals surrounding virtually any location.
