Area of Refuge: Your Lifeline in Emergencies

What is Area of Refuge?

Code Compliant. Reliable. Life-Saving.

An area of refuge (AOR) system is a building code-driven standard requiring stairwells, elevator landings, and exterior stairwells in multilevel buildings to be equipped for assisted rescue during an emergency. In a fire or emergency evacuation, building occupants who cannot travel down the stairs or the elevator need a location to wait for assistance with two-way communication to first responders.

Code Blue is the leading manufacturer of cloud-based code-compliant Area of Refuge systems and IP or analog SIP two-way communication systems. We are also the security industry leader in emergency network solutions, making our AOR solutions specialized and second to none in functionality.

Code-Compliant AOR Solutions

All of our Area of Refuge products are designed and manufactured to comply with the International Building Code (IBC) system requirements, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

All Code Blue products recommended in our AOR solutions are designed and manufactured according to specifications by the International Building Code.
